I want to review a book this time. This won't be your typical book review, however. I haven't finished reading The Host yet, so this may include some of my predictions, confusions, and review of how I like the book so far.
*Spoiler Alert!*
Don't read this if you haven't read this book or if you aren't at least two hundred pages into the book at this point.
So far, this book is a very interesting read. It is definitely different than anything else I've read before. I'm not very big into the whole science fiction thing, so it's a whole different experience. I sort of like it.
Second of all, I knew from the start I HAD to read this book. Mostly because of how much I like all of Stephenie Meyer's other books. I bought this right away to read.
I started about a week ago, and it doesn't have the same fast paced story line as Twilight does, but it still holds my attention well enough to keep me reading. It takes a lot for a book to keep me focused, and this one does, but I can't just keep reading it. I have to stop for a while and let it sink in because it's good, and very well written, but I'm not completely enthralled by it.
Most people I've talked to say that if a book is confusing then they quit reading it. I'm the opposite. I guess you could say I'm strange that way. But basically it's because I think "What the heck is going on?" And that's when I know I have to keep reading to figure out whats going on and see what happens. I was hooked at the beginning, and after I started to understand what was going on, thats when I started losing interest.
Another thing that sort of bugs me about the book is the some of the characters. This happened in Twilight as well. I never like the main character as much as I should. Bella was annoying to me, and I couldn't keep up with her emotions and actions. They were too foreign to me and I didn't like the way she thought some of the time. I guess I just couldn't connect with her because her choices and thoughts were so much different than my own.
I'm not here to talk about Twilight though. I'm here to talk about The Host, but the same thing applies here. I don't like the main character. (Wanderer.) I shouldn't say much, however, because I haven't read the entire book yet. Maybe she gets better. Maybe you're not supposed to like her. I'm not positive yet. But the book is told in first person, so you would think that you were supposed to like the main character. So far, I don't.
